Traditionally, a listing service is used by real estate brokers in transactions representing sellers under a listing contract to share information about properties with other brokers. Recently, however, as the modern era has equipped individual buyers and sellers with access to the internet, current web platforms are making widely available offerings of real estate listings to consumers globally; individuals are therefore able to access this information to inform their realty selling and purchasing decisions. Whereas a person selling one's own property cannot generally put a listing for the home directly into an MLS, except in Spain, a seller can however take advantage of listing services online to place and manage their own for sale by owner campaigns.
