In 1886 Reuben H. Donnelley created the first yellow pages directory. It is said that he could not locate enough white paper while compiling a directory of people and businesses and used yellow simply by happenstance. Ironically it has become the established and recognized color code for business. Ever since the late 19th century, when the yellow pages were founded in Chicago, business directories have become integral to modern enterprise. Corporate visibility hinges on social relationships, from word of mouth to print, to internet media. An internet based business directory offers certain advantages to the public, such as ease of use and access as well as being easy to update regularly as information about each business changes.
